## Formulas You Will Want to Memorize

Since math builds upon knowledge you have gained before, you will want to make sure that you have memorized some formulas and operations. Here is a list of a few you should commit to memory.

### Average/Mean

Remember that the average is the same as the mean. To find the average of a set of numbers, divide the sum of all the numbers in the set by the amount of numbers in the set.

### Quadratic Formula

Solve any quadratic equation in the form ax^2+bx+c=0 with this formula. For those formulas that are difficult to find the difference of squares, or if you are in a rush on an exam, the quadratic formula will be very nice to know.

### Logarithms

You should understand logarithms and how to rewrite them.

asks

*b* to what power (

*y*) will result in

*x*. You can rewrite it as:

.
When

*x* is a product of two different numbers, it may be easier to solve if you remember the following formula:

### Rectangle Formulas

Area=lw
l is the length and w is the width. Multiply them together to find the area of a rectangle.
Perimeter=2l+2w
Double the length of each side and add the results together to calculate the perimeter.
Volume=lwh
h is the height of the rectangle. Multiply length, width, and height to find the volume.

### Parallelogram

To find the area of a parallelogram, drop two right triangles to determine the heights and turn the parallelogram into a rectangle.
