Tips to Get Your Children out of Bed

After the long summer break, getting children out of bed on time and on the school bus can often feel like an impossible task. If this sounds familiar, below are some tips from The Tutoring Center, Plano which can help.

No More Electronic Devices in the Bedroom

Instilling a rule which prohibits electronic devices in the bedroom has two great benefits.
  1. It prevents your child from going to bed on time and then spending hours at night chatting with their friends or browsing social media posts when they should be getting a solid night's sleep.
  2. Needing to get out of bed and make their way to the kitchen (consider keeping their devices there) is a great motivator to get any teen out of bed on time.

Allow for Napping

It can be difficult for a child to wake up to an alarm and then immediately get out of bed. If this is your child’s struggle, consider changing their alarm to sound 10-15 minutes earlier. This extra time to stretch, snooze, and even prepare their brain to get up can be all that’s needed to help get them out of bed.

Breakfast as a Reward

If there is a particular breakfast item which your child enjoys, consider cooking it for them as a reward for arriving in the kitchen on time. You can set a specific time in the morning and, if they are in the kitchen at this time, then you will prepare their favored food.
